Technology Impact Work place 2020

I am really impressed with one of gartners recent study on “your work place: 2020“. Good theme to float your imagination with a cup of coffee and few cookies along side you. As usual in a typical gartner report style ideas were floating around complex terms. I have taken my field of interest technology and management. What i have experienced in the past and helps me to correlate the industry leaders study in to a better perspective.

I have picked selected area for my discussion,
HYPERCONNECTEDNESS:
Five years before a luxry indicator, Cellphone, is a common gadget for everyone, chai-wala’s to company ceo everyone has mobile. I remember one of my previous manager’s son fighting with his father for mp3 enabled mobile, he was studying just 6th standard then. Not to say more about future work gadget requirement. In work place will no longer isolated desktop shelter, WiFi enabled offices which connected your i-phones and laptops are very common now. Disruption played by these devices in gadgets will be ignored, you will be connected all the time in every possible way. Hyperconnected future workplaces will play converged role you will be connected all the time. Yesterday story of bandwidth limitation will nolonger be a bottle neck.
More than Workload simplification, more control is expected. Employers can watch every movement of employee. To track the progress excel-sheet is not required. Work all day all time will be part of life cycle.
WORK PLACE:
My last point on hyperconnectedness connects work place. Physical office building is only part of work place. Each employee will be equipped with facilites equivalent to a desk in their own home. Employees have to learn the tactics of managing all in given time. Tiny connected devices and smart work tools will enable virtual work place.
Collaborative tools like virtual meeting place, workdesks will bring in speedy response to issues. Like gartner says swarming will be more of technoloogy driven.
It is in the hands of COO to bring value addition by collaboration. Managing complex workforce with smart tools and gadgets is a key managerial skill to rely on. Counting my days.
